Reverie about a Sunset on the deck at Writer's Retreat

Gilding the highest branches on the hilly slope to the West, the glowing sun glides behind Yosemite's majestic peaks. I feel the still air cooling and hear distinct bird calls penetrating the stillness. The red-orange sun rays transform the forest to glowing yellow-gold. Fir and pine needles blow across the redwood deck as the breeze blows across the railing.

Although darkness envelops the deep forest, the sky retains its whiteness behind the hills. Fluttering wings of an unseen bird awaken me from my reverie. I pause as the day ends in the forest, and then go inside, turn on the lights, and begin preparing dinner for my family. Soon they will return from their hike to the top of Half Dome.
